It was a cool ride today, both in terms of cool factor and temperature. We started from Plaza Park and went east through the Colonia and then newer neighborhoods out towards Rose and Rice. Stopped for a short refuel at the truck stop at Sturges and Del Norte…then east on 5th to a very short but interesting country road, S Wolf, to pick up Pleasant Valley Road to Bard. This last part was mostly through some ag areas east and south of town center. Another short stop at the recently completed College Park and onto Oxnard Blvd and through a light industrial area along Commercial to return to Plaza Park. We made pretty good time for the 16 mile ride – just over 2 hours.
This is an amazing view of Oxnard in one ride; old and new residential, community market, large scale ag (strawberry, artichoke, rice, cabbage and more), large and small scale industrial. Who knew Oxnard is so varied in such a small radius of city center? What an amazing city!
We will do this ride again and soon. Come ride with us. It’s a very harmonious group.
